Kind of an odd moment with Willard where he says that he's bringing in some sports psychologist from Australia to work with the team and try to help their poor shooting. A kid asks a follow up question about who it is and he's just like 'nah, I'm just shitting you guys!' and he starts laughing. I guess you need some levity at times, especially when you shoot like they did, but just seemed like an odd thing to do, to me at least. Another week in the B1G East, another opponent with a top-15 defense. Unlike the other opponents they lost to, this one has one of the most anemic offenses in the country. I think that is the difference and they get that 7th win this week on the road.

CANCUN, MEXICO – Maryland wrapped up the Cancun Challenge Saturday afternoon with a victory over UMass, 92-63. The Terps finish the Thanksgiving weekend tournament with a 2-1 record, and return to College Park with a 4-3 overall record.

On the back of three double-digit scorers, Maryland never trailed en route to its largest margin of victory in the early season. The Terps jumped out to an 11-point lead after one quarter of play and then doubled the advantage heading into halftime.

The Terps thrived on both ends of the court, shooting 50.8% from the floor and 26-of-33 from the charity stripe. Defensively, Brenda Frese's squad wreaked havoc, forcing a season-high 28 turnovers while plucking a season-best 19 steals. Maryland's stealing success created transition opportunities, as the Terps outscored UMass 28-7 in fastbreak points and 42-16 in points off turnovers.

Jakia Brown-Turner put in her best effort as a Terp with 17 points and four boards. Shyanne Sellers pitched in 13 points and six assists, while Brinae Alexander tallied 13 points and led the defensive effort with a career-high six steals.

Head Coach Brenda Frese's Take"We were hoping that with the three games in three days we would be able to spread the minutes around, especially to our younger players. I thought our mentality was right when we came out. It was great to see Jakia and Shy get us going and Nae with her defense really set the tone. We were able to force a season high in turnovers and steals. It's nice to see Jakia have her most points as a Terp, with more to come. A career high for Nae with her steals, so just a nice way to end the tournament to extend some minutes to our bench."

CANCUN, MEXICO -- In their second of three games in the Cancun Challenge, the Terps earned a hard-fought, gritty win over Green Bay, 68-59

After trailing early, Maryland carried a one-point lead into the third quarter thanks to a pivotal third-quarter buzzer beater from Riley Nelson. Early fourth-quarter points from Shyanne Sellers and Bri McDaniel helped the Terps (3-3) create separation from the Phoenix (3-2) and they never surrendered it from there.

McDaniel was a major spark plug off the bench for the Terps all afternoon, finishing with a career-high 19 points, including an 11-for-12 performance at the line. Sellers was superb once again in a fantastic all-around performance where she notched 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Freshman Riley Nelson was also huge off the bench and finished with a career-high nine points. Maryland finished with a 30-20 advantage in bench points.

The Terps played big on the boards all game, out-rebounding the Phoenix 57-33 and snatching 16 offensive rebounds. Jakia Brown Turner's game-high and career-high 13 boards were pivotal.

• The Terps clawed back from an early deficit, out–scoring Green Bay 18-13 in the second quarter to cut it to 30-29 at halftime.

CANCUN, MEXICO – Maryland dropped the first game of the Cancun Challenge Thursday afternoon against No. 23 Washington State, 87-67.

Thanks to a first-quarter scoring outburst from Lavender Briggs, Maryland built a double-digit advantage while shooting 65% in the frame. But a balanced scoring effort from Washington State spurred a second-quarter run that put the Cougars in the driver's seat for the remainder of the contest.

Briggs led the Terps with 18 points, while Allie Kubek and Jakia-Brown Turner joined her double figures.

Charlisse Leger-Walker recorded a triple-double for Washington State with 11 points, 13 assists and 15 boards. Five other Cougars scored in double figures.

• Maryland connected on seven of its first eight field goal attempts to open up a 16-6 lead.
