Ohio State predictions

Lets see your predictions for tomorrow.

Mine probably won't be popular, I picked OSU to win 27-20.

I have a feeling they cover the 20-point spread, just don't think they will be able to get it done on the road.

Assuming they do cover and keep it close for most of the game, I feel good about their chances to knock off one of PSU or Michigan at home later this season.

Maryland-Ohio State will be FOX's Big Noon game

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland will travel to No. 4 Ohio State on Saturday, Oct. 7 for a Big Ten East battle that will kickoff at Noon and air as part of FOX's Big Noon Saturday, it was announced today. The game will also air on the Maryland Sports Radio Network.

Maryland (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) is undefeated through its first four games for the second time in three years, winning each game by 18 or more points. The Terrapins are one of only three schools in the FBS to be 4-0 and win each game by 18 or more points (No. 2 Michigan & No. 7 Washington).

Maryland is coming off a 31-9 win at Michigan State this past Saturday. The Terps have scored 31 or more points in each of the first four games of the season for the first time in program history. Maryland currently leads the Big Ten in total offense, averaging 450.5 yards per game.

Ohio State (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) is coming off a 17-14 win at No. 9 Notre Dame this past Saturday. The Buckeyes are off this week before hosting the Terps.

Maryland will play its Big Ten home opener this Saturday against Indiana. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network and the Maryland Sports Radio Network. It will be Family Weekend in College Park. To purchase tickets, click here.

Three things to watch for versus Ohio State

We're just hours away from the biggest game of the season (and probably of Mike Locksley's tenure) when the Terps take on the Buckeyes at Noon. Here are three things to watch for. For all of the talk about Maryland's passing game and Ohio State's defense, feels to me like Maryland's ability to stop Ohio State's run game could be the difference. If the Buckeyes are able to pick up large chunks of yardage on the ground consistently, the Terps are likely in real trouble. More at the link below.

Jahmir Young, JuJu Reese earn Preseason All-Big Ten honors

COLLEGE PARK, MD - Jahmir Young and Julian Reese were named to the All-Big Ten Preseason Team ahead of the 2023-24 season, the conference announced on Friday. This marks the first time that Maryland has had a pair of student-athletes on the preseason team since 2019-20 when Anthony Cowan Jr. and Jalen Smith were selected to the preseason squad.

Young was a unanimous selection after last season where the fifth-year player earned second team honors by the media and the coaches. Young marks the first unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten preseason team for the Terps since Anthony Cowan Jr. in 2019. Reese also features on the All-Big Ten preseason list following a sophomore campaign that saw the Baltimore native earn honorable mention All-Big Ten honors after the 2022-23 season. For Young, this is his latest preseason accolade as he was also named a Preseason All-American by the Blue Ribbon and Lindy's Sports Magazines. He was also a Preseason All-Big Ten First Team selection and noted as the No. 35 of 100 top players for the upcoming season by the Field of 68 Almanac.

The duo's selection also marks the third time since 2015-16 that a pair of Terps have been named to the All-Preseason Team. For this year's team, only Maryland and Michigan State had two players represented.

Last season, Young averaged a team-high 15.8 points per game and was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team, the USBWA All-District Team, and the NABC All-District Second Team. His 553 points this past season ranked as the 30th best total for a single season in Maryland program history. Young tallied nine 20-point games on the year including a season-high 30 in the win over No. 24 Ohio State.

Reese averaged 11.4 points per game and a team high 7.2 rebounds per game a season ago. Reese was efficient from the field all year, posting the third-best single-season field goal percentage (.632) in program history. The junior deterred opposing offenses in the paint, blocking a team-leading 42 shots last season.

The pair helped lead Maryland to a 22-13 overall record last season which included a win over West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament, an undefeated home slate in Big Ten play, and a 16-1 overall home record in the XFINITY Center.

The Terrapins open the 2023-24 season at home against Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Maryland returns the bulk of its top performers from 2022-23 led by Young and Reese as well as fifth-year senior Donta Scott. Additionally, the Terps have brought in the No. 15 recruiting class in the country paced by DeShawn Harris-Smith, Jaime Kaiser, and Jahnathan Lamothe, while adding redshirt junior forward Jordan Geronimo who played three seasons at Indiana.

TBT: Looking back at Maryland and Ohio State starters as recruits

It is Throwback Thursday once again, where we compare Maryland's starters as recruits with each week's opponents. This week it is Ohio State.

It is pretty crazy looking at Ohio State's starting lineup and how highly ranked they are were in high school.

6 of their starters were Rivals five-stars.

15 of their 22 starters were in the Rivals250.

All but three of their starters were rated a four-star or higher. That is just insane.
