According to Inside Lacrosse Coach Tillman is bringing in the top ranked transfer portal class..

1. Maryland

The Terps have the deepest class and a particularly large one for John Tillman’s squad. Is it the best in DI? That will depend.
Noah Armitage (Stony Brook) and Jack Dowd (Salisbury) give them hulking midfielders. Zack Goorno (Bowdoin) is a beast who was the DIII SSDM of the Year.

Attackmen Matthew Keegan (Binghamton) and Bryce Ford (Fairfield) can be big contributors and more valuable than their profile; think of how Keegan Khan contributed in 2022.
AJ Hernandez might be the key piece. If he steps in to become an everyday starter and potentially an All-America-type player, that elevates this class in a huge way.
Maryland went to the NCAA Tournament and had some young pieces. They had their losses, particularly on the defensive end (and Eric Malever to the Portal, too), but this group has potential to elevate all around.

Six Terps named to Reese’s Senior Bowl watch list

MOBILE, AL -- Six members of the Maryland football team have earned spots on the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List, the Senior Bowl announced Wednesday.

RB Roman Hemby, WR Tai Felton, WR Kaden Prather, LB Ruben Hyppolite II, DB Dante Trader Jr., and DB Glendon Miller were all named to the watch list. Last season, the Terps had seven seniors on the watch list with DB Beau Brade and OL Delmar Glaze participating in the game. Glaze went on to be selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Reese's Senior Bowl is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game and the first stage in the NFL Draft process. The longest continual-running all-star game has taken place in Mobile, Alabama the past 75 years. More than 900 NFL personnel, including key decision-makers from all 32 teams, and over 11,00 media members from around the country were credentialed this year. This past April, the game produced 110 total picks, representing 43 percent of the entire NFL draft.

This year's game will be played on Saturday, February 1, 2025 on NFL Network at 2:30 pm EST.

Several other Terps that have played in the Senior Bowl went on to get selected in the NFL Draft, including Darnell Savage Jr., Byron Cowart, Quinton Jefferson and Jakorian Bennett.

Momentum still going strong?

Keep an eye out for this commitment tonight from Baltimore St. Frances high three-star DE Damon Hall Jr.

Hearing this one is very likely for the Terps. That would certainly keep the local momentum going strong. Other offers include Bama, Florida, Michigan, PSU and Virginia Tech.

Hyppolite named to Butkus watch list

CHICAGO, IL -- University of Maryland linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II has been named to the 2024 Butkus Award preseason watch list; it was announced today, August 13. The award is presented annually to the top linebacker in college football.

A team captain in 2023, Hyppolite II is entering his fifth season at Maryland. The 2023 Third-Team All-Big Ten selection finished second on the team in tackles last season with 66 (47 solo) to go along with 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup. For his career, Hyppolite II has 170 total tackles (105 solo).

Hyppolite II has seen action in 39 games in his career with 34 starts.

The Fort Lauderdale, FL native is on the Butkus Award watch list for the first time in his career.

Award semifinalists are expected to be named November 4, with finalists named November 25and the winner named by December 10.Appearing on the watch list is not a requirement to win the award. The 2024 Butkus Award winners at the high school, college and pro level will be honored at an event planned for early 2025 at Memorial Stadium at the University of Illinois as part of the Big Ten Network television special.

The 51-person Butkus Award selection committee comprised of coaches, scouts and journalists guides the selection process emphasizing qualities that defined Dick Butkus' career: toughness, on-field leadership, competitiveness, football character and linebacking skills. The Award is increasingly focused on recognizing linebackers who consistently play off the ball on their feet in a two-point stance in traditional form.

The 51 linebackers named to the watch list is a nod to the storied "51" pro jersey won by the award's namesake, the late Dick Butkus. His tenacious leadership from the middle linebacker position earned him acclaim by NFL Films as the greatest defensive player in football history.
