Local guard Omari Witherspoon

Coming off of official visits to West Virginia and Pitt this past weekend, St. John's three-star combo guard Omari Witherspoon has cut his list to Maryland, Pitt and Vandy. A decision should be coming soon and I like the Terps here. It is worth noting he was recently in College Park for an unofficial visit and he cancelled a planned visit to Virginia Tech. He also still has an official visit planned to Maryland for next month. Wanna make another call or two first, but I'll likely be putting in a FutureCast for the Terps shortly.

McFerson named to Ray Guy Award Ray’s 8 of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Redshirt sophomore punter Bryce McFerson was named among the Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 of the Week, given to the nation's top eight punters of the week.

McFerson excelled in his Maryland debut, helping the Terps to a 50-7 victory over UConn in the season opener. McFerson placed five of his six punts inside the 20-yard line. The Notre Dame transfer racked up a total of 269 punting yards (44.8 yards per punt) across his six attempts, including a career-long punt of 64 yards.

Ray's 8 honors eight punters weekly who had the best punting performance over the weekend. A fan vote will determine the winner of the weekly award. Fans can vote at rayguyaward.com

The Ray Guy Award winner is selected by a voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, national media and former Ray Guy Award winners. Punters are evaluated on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. Particular emphasis is placed on the following statistics; net average, percentage of total punts inside the 20-yard line and percentage of punts not returned.
