COLLEGE PARK, Md. – SeniorConnor Kelly and sophomore Jared Bernhardt combined for 15 points and junior Austin Henningsen won 16-of-22 faceoffs to lead the No. 2 Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a 13-7 win over Marist Tuesday evening.

Kelly and Bernhardt are the first Terps to combine for 15 points in a game since Rob Wurzburger and Mark Douglas achieved the feat in 1991 against Ohio State – a span of 28 years.

Kelly’s eight points and four assists were career-highs, while Bernhardt posted career-highs in points (7), goals (5) and assists (2). Kelly has seven assists through the first two games, after posting just 11 in 2017.

After allowing the first goal to Marist (0-3), the Terps (2-0) quickly recovered by scoring five goals in less than five minutes to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Bernhardt and Kelly each had a pair of goals during the run.

The Terps built a 9-3 advantage by halftime and never looked back as it suffocated the Red Foxes defensively throughout the game.

Terrapin goalkeeper Dan Morris finished with 10 saves, while Big Ten Defender of the Week Curtis Corley notched a career-high three caused turnovers.

Logan Wisnauskas was also instrumental in the victory with a career-high four points on two goals and two assists, while freshman James Avanzato scored his first career goal.

The Terps return to action Saturday as they embark on their first road test of the season against High Point at noon.
