Well guys, I know I don't really ever make posts, but I guess this little tidbit of information I just got is as good of a time as any to break the ice.
I've developed a decent relationship over the past few months with Lone Peak (Utah) 4-star SG Frank Jackson, who's not only a great player, but perhaps a better kid, and who Scott and I both thought the Terps had a REAL shot with because of his ties to the area (grew up in Silver Spring and his grandmother lives in DC) and he and his father's early conversations with Turgeon. Jackson originally had planned an East Coast tour of trips while he was over here for NBA Top 100 Camp that was supposed to include Duke, Maryland and North Carolina. UNC was the first to fall, as TSR was the first to report after Jackson told us in Charlottesville that he and his father decided there was no need for that trip. But after seeing Duke on Monday, Jackson has now decided that College Park is not worth a visit as well.
"I saw Duke and thought to myself that there wasn't really a need to go see Maryland," Jackson told me today.
He added, "They were very impressive. I was blown away."
When I asked if he could see himself making any more East Coast trips to any other schools, he said there would be no more.
So in my honest opinion, it sounds like the Blue Devils get another great player, who will excel on and off the court. Being a Terps fan and alum, this obviously is not what I or I'm sure any of you were hoping for, but I would at least rather receive this bad news early on in the process like this, so that our staff can use its resources and attention more effectively with other recruits. Many other great 2016 and 2017 guards still in play for the Terps and we will keep you guys updated on all of them.
And on a side note, sorry it has taken this long for me to interact with you guys on the message boards. There will surely be more to come and I will post a short bio about myself later this week, so you guys can get to know me and familiarize yourselves with my past work a little more. And please do not hesitate to reach out and ask me any questions.
A big bass just got off the hook today, but there's always more fish in the sea, and Turgeon and Co. have cast a wide net. (A fish analogy from an avid fisherman)
