On Rivals250 EDGE Jalen Harvey...

While Harvey looked to be all but done to Penn State prior to his Maryland visit, he decided to hold off on his original date of July 4 for announcing his commitment. In talking to some sources, the chatter is that Maryland really gave him a lot to think about and his camp is now reevaluating what he can get on the open NIL market before making any announcement. Obviously, Florida, where he visited earlier this month, has been a major player in the NIL game, even snagging a surprise commitment from Good Counsel's Aaron Chiles. But they currently have the No. 4 class in the nation with a four-man group at LB that includes a five-star and a two-man DE group that includes a top-100 kid. There seems to be a belief among some that Maryland put together the most competitive NIL deal and they could really be trending here. I'm not ready to say the Terps lead or that they are for sure the reason he decided to hold off on his announcement, but there is a lot of chatter that is the reason why.

Sooner or later, I was waiting for this to happen.

Whittier's commit lessens the blow.

Local three-star CB Lloyd Irvin is a Terp

Maryland has landed a second local three-star in as many days with Lloyd Irvin choosing the Terps over Wisconsin, West Virginia and Boston College. While Irvin might be a bit overshadowed by teammate Braydon Lee, at 6-foot-3, 180, he's got the size, length and physicality to play press man coverage similar to Deonte Banks. Another really good pickup for the Terps.

Spalding LB Keyshawn Flowers...

Spalding three-star LB Keyshawn Flowers will be announcing his commitment later this afternoon and I'm putting in a FutureCast for the Terps. While only a three-star, his offer list says it all. He has offers from the likes of Alabama, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, USC and more. He is down to a final three of the Terps, Miami and Notre Dame. He also has prototypical size for his position at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds and put up very good numbers in his first season starting on varsity as a junior. This would be a really good pickup with several more announcements expected in the coming days. The ceiling of this LB group with Okoronkwo and potentially Flowers would be sky high. Both with Alabama offers and both just scratching the surface of how good they can be.

Derik Queen stars during first session of NBPA Top 100

Russ was on hand yesterday for the opening session of games at this year's NBPA Top 100 camp which is once again taking place down in Orlando. Top Terps target Derik Queen was one of the session's top performers. More on Queen, former target Daquan Davis, Khani Rooths and another fast-riser the Terps offered a while back at the link below.

Terps will host...

Maryland will host top 2025 four-star wing Jordan Scott today for an unofficial visit. I know I've mentioned this since before the Terps got seriously involved, but there is a lot to be said for a kid who had Izzo and Bennett on him super early and he's developing into an excellent player. He's blown up with offers from Illinois, Iowa, Penn State and more. In fact, he was just at Michigan State again last week. Also worth noting again, in talking to his mom, they are letting him enjoy the process and make his own decisions, but a Maryland offer was special both for him and his family. My gut says if they push, they have an excellent chance of landing him. That said, I don't see a decision coming in the near future. But he is someone to monitor very closely moving forward.

Post-weekend visit intel

I can say with certainty that the Terps came out of the weekend with at least one commitment but the player is yet to go public with an announcement. Another pickup in the trenches and this is a kid with a number of P5 offers, including several in the SEC. Still like where Maryland sits with St. Frances four-star DeJuan Williams, also. We'll have to see if they did enough to take the lead with guys like Khristian Martin and Keyshawn Flowers, but this was without a doubt another extremely productive weekend for the staff.

We should see several of these guys committing in the next week or two with the Terps well positioned with all of them.
