Donta Scott (6-foot-8, Senior, F) - Averaging 11.7 points and 7.0 rebounds so far this season.
Julian Reese (6-foot-9, Soph., F/C) - Averaging a team-high 15.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game to start the season.

The Billikens enter Saturday's game versus Maryland coming off of an impressive 90-84 win at home over Memphis. Point guard Yuri Collins is one of the nation's best set-up men, averaging an NCAA-leading 12 assists per game, while Mizzou transfer Javon Pickett is averaging a double-double. Collins' backcourt mate Gibson Jimerson is averaging nearly 19 points per game to start the season.

Maryland will have the size advantage in this one, with both Hakim Hart and Donta Scott bigger than their counterparts. The Terps also enter this game 33rd nationally, averaging 5.7 blocked shots per game. But if the Terps want to win this game, they will have to slow down the Billikens offense and hold them to a shooting percentage below their season average both from the field and from distance.

TBT: Looking back at Maryland and Ohio State starters as recruits

It is Throwback Thursday once again, and today we compare the Terps starters to their Ohio St. counterparts. For the Buckeyes, Treyveon Henderons missed last week's game, but is expected to start this week according to Ryan Day. Same goes for Dawand Jones up front, who did not start last week at RT, but is expected to play this week. And just how good is their defensive front? Ty Hamilton is now starting in place of former Rivals100 DT Mike Hall Jr. because he has simply outplayed him. Also interesting to note that one of OSU's lowest rated starters comes from the state of Georgia. More at the link below.

WBB: No. 19 Terps best Davidson, 70-52, on Field Trip Day

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- No. 19 Maryland put on a show on the eighth annual Field Trip Day in front of 8,454 fans, including over 6,000 students from 41 schools, defeating Davidson 70-52 on Wednesday early afternoon.

Diamond Miller was the high-scorer for the Terps again with 19 points in addition to six assists. Abby Meyers added 14 points and crossed the 1,000-point threshold for her career. She also knocked down 3-of-6 from behind the arc. Faith Masonius hit the double-figure mark for the second consecutive game with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting.

The Terps carried a 10-point lead into halftime behind 10 points from Diamond Miller. Maryland recorded assists on nine of its 11 first-half field goals. They continued to stretch the lead behind multiple Davidson scoring droughts.

The Terps were pesky defensively all game, forcing Davidson into 30 giveaways which they converted into 16 points. They also held the Wildcats to just 38 percent shooting from the field. Shyanne Sellers notched five steals while Miller had four.

Maryland improved to 3-1 on the young season heading into a showdown with No. 18 Baylor. On the other hand, Davidson dropped to 1-2 overall.

Brenda Frese's Take
"We always love this day. This was our eighth annual Field Trip Day. We had over, gosh, 6,300 kids from about 41 surrounding schools. The atmosphere was electric. I thought they brought a great amount of energy for us for an 11 a.m. tip. First half, again, as we're continuing to keep growing with our chemistry, the 14 turnovers in the first half were really what kept the game close. I thought we did a nice job adjusting to that in the second half. The third quarter with Lav, Faith, Shy, I thought they really gave us a punch that we needed to have to get some separation. Loved our defensive intensity. Thought that made up for the turnovers. We had a season-high 18 steals and forced 30 turnovers and we definitely needed every single one of them."

Breaking Down The Action

  • Behind a combined 10 points from Miller and Masonius, the Terps held a 14-10 lead after the first quarter.
  • Maryland used an 8-0 run and a 3:04 Davidson scoring drought in the second stanza to push its lead to 29-19 at halftime. Miller had 10 points and four assists at the midway mark to lead the way.
  • The Terps continued to build their lead in the third quarter, stretching the advantage to 17 thanks to stingy defense that held the Wildcats without a field goal for over a six-minute span.
  • Maryland was able to unleash many of its freshman in the final quarter.
1,000-Point Update

  • With two free throws with 51.7 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Meyers hit the 1000-point threshold. She finished the game with 14 to hit 1,012. Meyers scored 947 in her three seasons of action at Princeton before joining the Terps this season.
  • Miller holds steady at 35th in career scoring at Maryland as she now has 1,087in her career. Ahead of her on the list at No. 34 is Jane Zivalich, who scored 1,113 from 1976-79.
  • Lavender Briggs continues to close on the 1,000-point mark with 986. She netted 961 at Florida.
  • Elisa Pinzan is also chasing 1,000 points as she has 930, with 916 coming at South Florida.
Double-Figure Update

  • Miller tallied 19 points and has scored 10-plus points in all three games she has played this season as part of 58 career games in double-digits.
