Local guard Omari Witherspoon

Coming off of official visits to West Virginia and Pitt this past weekend, St. John's three-star combo guard Omari Witherspoon has cut his list to Maryland, Pitt and Vandy. A decision should be coming soon and I like the Terps here. It is worth noting he was recently in College Park for an unofficial visit and he cancelled a planned visit to Virginia Tech. He also still has an official visit planned to Maryland for next month. Wanna make another call or two first, but I'll likely be putting in a FutureCast for the Terps shortly.

***Michigan State Game Thread***

We're about 45 minutes from kickoff as the Terps and Spartans get set to open Big Ten play in College Park.

One notable starter out today is TE Preston Howard. Listed as questionable was starting corner Perry Fisher, but if he were unable to go that would be a significant loss.

Overcast afternoon in the DMV with chance of showers throughout the afternoon. Perfect football temps, however, with the high only supposed to hit the low 70's.

Also good to see future face of the franchise, Malik Washington, in the house with a bunch of his Spalding teammates this afternoon.

MLAX: Mike Daly Named Maryland Men’s Lacrosse’s Director Of Player Development

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Illustrious coach Mike Daly has been hired as the Director of Player Development for the Maryland men's lacrosse program, head coach John Tillman announced today.

A successful head coach at many levels with three NCAA National Championships to his name, Daly brings a wide range of experiences to College Park.

"We are thrilled to have someone with Mike's championship experience join our program," Tillman said. "Mike has a history of developing well-rounded men and teams with strong cultures. He will be a great asset for our players to reach their full potential as people, students and players."

In this role, Daly will assist the Terrapins in several different areas, most significantly in preparing student-athletes for personal, academic and athletic development success.

Jared Bernhardt served in this role previously, but will move on to pursue his football career.

Daly spent the last eight seasons as the head coach at Brown, leading the Bears to the 2022 Ivy League regular season title as well as a berth in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Before his time at Brown, Daly posted a record of 244-83 in 18 seasons as head coach at Tufts, with nine NCAA Tournament appearances and seven NESCAC titles. His Tufts teams won national championships in 2010, 2014 and 2015. Daly was also named the USILA F. Morris Touchstone National Coach of the Year in both 2010 and 2014.

A 1995 Tufts graduate, Daly was a two-sport athlete for the Jumbos, and received a Masters in Education from Tufts in 1997.

Behind Enemy Lines: Michigan State

I exchanged questions with Spartan Illustrated's Ryan O'Bleness on what to expect from the Terps and Spartans when they open Big Ten play on Saturday. Some really good stuff from Ryan on the state of their program and what to expect with a new coaching staff. You can find his answers to my questions at the story linked below.

You can’t make this stuff up

In a previous thread I mentioned someone parked in my parking space last week for the UConn game. I’ve been busier than heck at work and haven’t been able to call UM until just now to discuss the issue.

I had no number to call, so decided to call the Ticket Office since my parking is through them. I call the infamous 800-462-8377 number and it goes right to voice messaging. I begin to listen and I select “1” for a ticket agent. Figured they could just direct me to the right number. I promptly wait eight and a half minutes before the phone disconnects.

Back to square-1. I call back, get the standard message, but this time I listen to the options to choose. Option 3 is for directory assistance. Perfect!

I choose that and then expect to hear up to nine numbers of options for all their departments. Instead, I get a recording that states, “You have reached a non-working number” and then the phone automatically hangs up.

Can someone please put a tent over this three-ring shit show that is the University of Maryland?

Good grief. 😡
