Update on 2026 McDonogh OLB

An update on top 2026 McDonogh OLB/EDGE Nick Abrams II. He recently visited Georgia Tech and picked up a recent offer from Michigan State to go along with an offer from Penn State he picked up during the summer. But the relevant news here is that he will be in College Park next month for the USC game. That is looking like a big weekend for the football program both on the field and in recruiting.

Wow, Norvell’s seat has to be flaming hot after today’s performance vs. Memphis. Guy literally went from the top of the mountain the end of the regular season last year to the flaming dumpster floating down the river today.

Bama looked like Bama of old today, cruising past Wiscy in Madison.

Michigan still struggling.

Illinois looking surprisingly good this year, moving to 3-0 with today’s win.

Trader Jr. named B1G Defensive Player of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland senior defensive back Dante Trader Jr. has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Trader Jr. led the Terps defense with a career-high tying 11 tackles, an interception and a pass break-up in Maryland's 27-13 win at Virginia this past Saturday. The interception was the fifth of Trader's career.

Led by Trader Jr., the Maryland defense came up huge in the second half of the game against the Cavaliers. The Terps held Virginia scoreless and only gave up 82 total yards in the second half.

In total, Maryland’s defense created four turnovers against the Cavaliers and now leads the nation with a +9 turnover margin.

Trader is the first Terp to earn Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week since Tarheeb Still on Nov. 13, 2023.

Maryland is set to host Villanova this Saturday at SECU Stadium. The game, which will be part of Family Weekend on campus, is set to kickoff at Noonand will be broadcast on Big Ten Network and the Maryland Sports Radio Network.

Guess the Time and TV Week 5 9/28 @ Indaina

Tomorrow around lunchtime we'll get word. Here's what we already know as the B1G is all Conference Play at this point:

Friday night: Washington at Rutgers 8 pm Fox

Louisville at Notre Dame 3:30 pm NBC

Nebraska at Purdue Noon (no TV assigned, Purdue Homecoming)

Illinois at State Penn 3:30/4/7:30 pm (no TV assigned, State Penn Homecoming)

Minnesota at Michigan

Oregon at UCLA

Wisconsin at USC

aOSU at Michigan State

This is going to be a tough one to slot. Illinois is at Nebraska this Friday night in the Fox primetime slot. Which is why Illinois at State Penn might get optioned as the Kid Toucher Cult has their last OOC Cupcake this coming Saturday to save it for the NBC slot on Saturday with two undefeated teams. State Penn is saving their White Out for Washington on November 9th and the last time Illinois was in Sappy Valley they pulled off a major upset.

Does Nebraska and Purdue warrant Fox Big Noon? Though that might compete with OKST and KST on the Big 12 side and force that to BTN. I never thought Marshall at aOSU would warrant Fox Big Noon but it did.

aOSU at MSU just smells like See-BS to me, especially with MSU likely being undefeated heading into that game. Plus MSU has a history of giving aOSU fits in East Lansing.

Oregon at UCLA and Wisconsin at USC seem like games prime for later BTN/Fox/FS1 slots. Wisconsin at USC could be optioned for NBC to see if the Huskers knock off the Illini.

The Bruins getting blasted by the Hoosiers last night makes me think they won't get on NBC again this season.

I'm thinking we get a 3:30 pm kickoff for this. Either BTN or FS1. Outside chance we land at Noon on BTN.

Looking ahead to Villanova…

Probably have Roye rest up and recover from whatever his injury was last night, try to be healthy in 2 weeks at IU if not too serious or his replacement doesn’t take his job. Opportunity for next man up at LT some competition won’t hurt especially since Roye had 3 false start penalties himself in the 1st half, perhaps board fan favorite Fagan gets reps (kidding) but whoever it is going to be (shh it’s a secret) at least they won’t be asked to block Howie Long, Nova’s most famous football alum lol
(local Brian Westbrook 2nd best VU alum)

RB’s collectively vs UVA…

No one particularly stood out but chipped in collectively:
Ray 10-53, 5.3 avg
McDonald 6-33, 5.5 avg
Hemby 10-33, 3.3 avg, long of 17
————————————-
26-119, 4.6 avg - if one of them had this stat line by themself we would be happy

0 fumbles as a team in 1st 3 games
Opponents have 4, 3 lost

Weekly Update

1. WIN-H vs. UCONN-Do the Terps play this close, or act like a B1G team against wherever they play now? My guess is although the score might be relatively close the stats won't be. Terps 30 UCONN 13.

2. WIN-H vs. MSU-Although MSU may have some talent, they have been up and down. Terp D allows the Terp O to score more easily. Terps 37 MSU 20,
but not that close.

3. WIN-A vs. UVA-This B1G team manhandles the Cavs. Terps take over midway 2H and its not that close. Terps 41 UVA 23.

4. WIN-H vs. Villanova-Solid Vill team that can't hang with this B1G team that will be really finding its grove and confidence. Terps 44 Vill. 17.
Terps D smothers these cats.

5. WIN-A vs. Indiana-A trap game maybe, but a game the Terps NEED to win. They have a new coach who is solid, a lot of transfers, and a new beginning. Don't care, this Terps D keeps the O in the game. Terps 37 IND 20.

6. WIN-H vs. NW. A true trap game but the Wildcats eat too much of the peanut butter without scoring enough. Finally, the Terps will not overlook these guys and take care of business. Terps 31 NW 20.

7. WIN-H vs. USC-The place will be packed, and USC will feel the jet lag. If USC comes in limping, then the Terp D will show them the door. This is a MUST win for the program, a true eye opener for recruiting. Terps 27 USC 20.

8. WIN-A vs. Minnesota. Do the Terps have a major league letdown? Game goes back and forth against a real solid coach but win in the 4Q.
Terps 20 Minn. 17.

9. LOSS-A- vs. Oregon. The wheels finally come off but not until the 2H. Too much talent for the Terps to handle. Big game in big time slot.
Oregon 30 Terps 20.

10. WIN-H vs. Rutgers. Terps pissed off and will piss on the Knights. Lots to play for. Terps 38 Rutgers 20.

11. WIN-H- vs. Iowa. Terps hire the other teams former OC. What? Does this help us? Iowa always solid but Terp O along with a steady D win a close game. Terps 24 Iowa 23.

12. WIN-A-PSU. The PSU fans will have no idea what happened to their team, and neither will the Lions. Terp D will lead the way, with the O being solid and methodical. Terps 27 PSU 20.

Yep, I'm going to be an optimist. In the 4Q of life I'm going against all the so-called experts and all the hype of other teams and players. The D will be the major factor along with a better-than-expected OL. Having 3 OL coaches will make a difference now and in the future.
