Bryce McFerson Selected To Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 For Second Consecutive Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Redshirt sophomore punter Bryce McFerson was named among the Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 of the Week, given to the nation's top eight punters of the week. This marked the second consecutive week McFerson made the list and he is the only player to be selected to Ray's 8 both weeks of the 2024 season.

McFerson had another stellar performance in his second game as a Terp. The Notre Dame transfer punted four times for a 48.50 average and a long of 63. Three of the four punts were downed inside the 20-yard line. Through his first 10 punts in a Maryland jersey, McFerson has a punting average of 46.3 yards per punt. That number ranks fourth in the Big Ten and 11th nationally among eligible punters (minimum 3.6 punts per game).

Ray's 8 honors eight punters weekly who had the best punting performance over the weekend. A fan vote will determine the winner of the weekly award. Fans can vote at rayguyaward.com

The Ray Guy Award winner is selected by a voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, national media and former Ray Guy Award winners. Punters are evaluated on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. Particular emphasis is placed on the following statistics; net average, percentage of total punts inside the 20-yard line and percentage of punts not returned.
