Says they have come out a little too casual on offense to start games but bringing the intensity on defense from the start. In the second half, brought the intensity on both ends.
Says Donta Scott is getting used to what Willard wants from him. He's playing at a good pace and playing with a lot of confidence because he's working hard and looking like an All-Big Ten player.
Liked the fact that Emilien and Reese were being physical, just need to sit down with them and work on hitting those free throws.
On stopping Ellis, they don't play that many guards, it's just him and 4 big guys. They can score difficult twos and then just make everyone else play. They can be a little tougher with Miller in and Ellis at the two, but they don't do a lot of that. Ellis has a high usage so really we just wanted to make everyone else dribble the ball.
Says tonight was the best game Jahmir Young has played at Maryland. At Charlotte was more of a combo and at this level and the next level, he's going to be a point guard. He sees a guy really learning quickly how to play the PG spot and he's going to be great moving forward.
Worked at Louisville 17-18 years ago, so it has changed a lot. Still have a lot of good friends and family down here, but it just isn't the same Louisville program.
We'll see about playing UL moving forward with no more ACC/B1G Challenge, a lot will depend on whether or not they move to 22 league games.
Proud of the staff when it comes to starting 7-0, putting together a roster that can go on the road and win by 30. But these players are fun to watch play but we still have a tough 4 months ahead of us.
Says Young and Carey are understanding their roles and how hard they have to work on defense with all of the switching. But they are really finding their rhythm on offense, but they have played enough good teams they should be ready for Illinois on Friday.
