I hope Durkin turns into the next Nick Saban and he has my full support because of his Meyer/Harbaugh pedigree. But it does speak volumes about MD as a football school. Despite UA, KP, NuCole, $$, etc. it appears MD could not even get the Mullens, Richts, Campbells of the world to even interview despite a 6 week time advantage. I can only speculate that something must have turned them off: KA, academics, Byrd seating capacity (paltry compared to SEC, Michigan, etc.), lack of commitment, poor fan base (competes with Skins and Ravens whereas what else is there to do in Tuscaloosa on a Saturday) who knows what. In any event I hope that Durkin can turn this morbid football program around so that the next time this occurs (and hopefully not for many years) we are a destination school not a stepping stone school.
