COLLEGE PARK, MD -- After a pair of strong performances in two big road victories, Maryland forward Julian Reese has been named the Naismith Men's College Basketball Player of the Week. This comes after Reese averaged 20.5 points and 13.5 rebounds, while leading Maryland to road wins over No. 17 Illinois (91-70) and Indiana (79-78). Reese shot 54.8-percent from the field, while adding five blocks, three assists, and a steal over the two games.

Reese began the week setting career-highs in points (27) and rebounds (17) at Illinois. This marked his eighth double-double of the year and 30th of his career. Reese shot 12-23 from the field and blocked three shots. He followed that performance with another double-double outing at Indiana, finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

For the season, Reese is averaging 13.7 points per game and 9.2 rebounds. His 56.9-percent mark from the field is also the fifth-best mark in the Big Ten. Reese's nine double-doubles on the year are tied for the most in the Big Ten, and are tied for the 11th-most in the country. Reese is also one of eight players in Maryland men's basketball history with 1,100 points and 800 rebounds.

Reese and the Terps are back in action on Wednesday, as they host No. 17 Wisconsin at 7:00 PM. The game will be broadcasted on Big Ten Network, and will also be available on the Maryland Sports Radio Network.
