Maryland football announces fast-rising opponent as its 2025 homecoming opponent

Maryland's homecoming game next season will be held Nov. 1 against Indiana, the school announced Monday.
The Hoosiers are coming off the greatest season in their program's history, their first 10-win season ever. First-year coach Curt Cignetti led them 11-2 overall record, including an 8-1 mark in Big Ten Conference play. They reached the College Football Playoff for the first time, but lost to Notre Dame in the first round, 27-17.The University of Maryland football program has set the dates for a trio of marquee theme games for the upcoming 2025 season, it was announced on Monday. Family weekend will occur on Saturday, Oct. 4 when the Terps host Big Ten newcomer Washington at SECU Stadium. It'll mark the first conference home game of the season and be the first time the programs have played since meeting in the 1982 Aloha Bowl.
Maryland's annual Homecoming game will be played on Saturday, Nov. 1 when Indiana visits College Park. The Terps have won five of their last six Homecoming games, including a dramatic 29-28 win over USC last season. On Saturday, Nov. 22, Maryland will host Michigan for its Military Appreciation game. It will also mark the regular season home finale for the Terps in which all seniors will be recognized.
In a January ranking of the Big Ten's toughest football schedules in 2025, CBSSports' Cody Nagel ranked Maryland's 2025 schedule the 14th-hardest in the Big Ten in 2025. He wrote:
2025 opponents: Florida Atlantic, Northern Illinois, Towson (FCS), at Wisconsin, Washington, Nebraska, at UCLA, Indiana, at Rutgers, at Illinois, Michigan, at Michigan State
Maryland was expected to benefit significantly from the removal of divisions in the Big Ten, no longer locked into annual matchups with Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. In 2025, the Terrapins host Michigan, along with Illinois and Indiana — both of whom are coming off double-digit win seasons. Additionally, Northern Illinois, known for its strong track record against power conference teams and even Notre Dame, presents a non-conference challenge that Maryland cannot afford to overlook.
