Malik Washington plans to speak with several elite players during his Under Armour All-America Game experience.
ORLANDO, Fla. — Malik Washington came to the Under Armour All-America Game with a dual purpose. The Maryland signee from Severn (Md.) Archbishop Spalding wants to perform at a high level, which will then help with the second part of his plan.
The class of 2025's No. 50 overall prospect, No. 5 quarterback and No. 2 player Maryland will be spending a few days with elite 2026 DMV prospects in five-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, top 50 safety Jireh Edwards and five-star edge rusher commit Zion Elee, who committed to the Terps Dec. 7.
And Washington, who enrolls at Maryland Jan. 25, discussed just how much recruiting he will do while during Under Armour All-America Game week.
"A whole lot," he said. "I am going to do a whole lot. I am going to be on it this weekend. I am going to try and get everybody I can, to come play."
The recruitment and discussions will go well beyond Iheanacho, who plays at Bethesda (Md.) Georgetown Prep, and the Baltimore St. Frances duo of Edwards and Elee.
There are nearly three-dozen 2026 prospects at the game, and Washington plans to deliver his message not only to the local prospects but to the masses.
"Let's build something," he said. "You hear about all these programs that are great, that have been great for so many years. Why not be a part of the program that makes it great?
"Everybody remembers that 2019 LSU team because they kind of skyrocketed LSU to a higher atmosphere than it already was. You can be a part of something like that and build it up rather than go somewhere that is already established."
Washington will bring plenty of support to the players by offering his high school career as reasons to believe.
He led Archbishop Spalding to a trio of MIAA class A titles. In the process, he shunned advances from other programs, including Bradenton (Fla.) IMG as was as some WCAC schools, to stay local and build a dynasty.
"That's me as a person," he said. "I enjoy building things, so it just made sense.
"Leave it better than I found it. That was a big thing we had at Spalding. Go in, elevate it and leave it better than I found it."
