"Greivis Vasquez would take over a game when I do games with him. There are times you have to have a guy. Melo Trimble took over games. Anthony Cowan hit a three, Illinois went under the screen right in front of me, and they hit him with a three to bang out. And Brad Underwood still talks about when he sees me, he's like, 'I can't believe he went under the screen, but I can't believe Cowan hit it.' I said, 'He's been doing that since he's 15.' I want to see Queen and Gillespie turn into the guys that can take the game over. Now, Queen did it against Villanova. And six-point games, as we all know, are tight games. That means it's a one- or two-point game. I don't know if it's as much coaching as you need the guy that can finish. I listen to Jason, who's been touting Lamar Jackson for the last three years as the best quarterback in the league … Well, he's got to play in the playoffs now. Like he's 2-4 in the playoffs. You got to get that thing across the goal line sometimes. And I love Lamar and I'm all for him, and I think this is his year because he's got more help. But like, your main guy has got to do it in college basketball and maybe have a little help. Duke's good because Cooper Flagg is picking it up. It's these two guys. Is Queen young? Queen is very young. Like, he's not just a freshman, he's a young freshman. Gillespie's been around a Belmont, but like, you got to have something that can close the game up for you and put you in a situation to help you win that game. Northwestern misses Boo Buie. Hey, they miss that guy who's 7-foot-2 in the background at Purdue, OK, Zach Edey. They miss him. Like, that's where I want to see the development come from of, and it's got to be those two.

"Selton Miguel's really good, and he did a good job against Syracuse, and I love his length and his size and his attitude and he's great. [Gerald] Drumgoole just hit five threes to help GW beat Dayton. But they're going to win because of, that was the big win. Like you have to have other guys, but your main guys have to be ready to go. And Queen and Gillespie with the NIL, you have been awarded this contract, this money. You are the guys. You were the two guys that we brought in. I thought JuJu was very good against Washington, not quite as good, but JuJu is Juju, and I love him. And he does all he can and he's a center and even made free throws. But they went four of eight from the line down the stretch. I'm sitting there in Seattle, and they go four of eight. Like, you know, you're trying to win on the road. How do you win on the road? You got to be tough. We went out to the Pacific. So that's the place with Isaiah Thomas and Nate Robinson and Brandon Roy. That's not some dumb school we added, OK. They've got 20 guys in the NBA for a reason, and they were ready to go on Star Wars night. And I'm not joking because instead of 5,000 people, there was 7,500 in a 9,000-seat building. You two guys have to grow up fast. I know you're at Belmont, but that's not the same as the Big Ten.

"And Queen, it's your team, and I love Queen, but if we're going to go far, – I'll never forget Gary Williams, this is, he's going to be mad I told you this. We love Johnny Rhodes. We love these guys. We had Exree Hipp and Duane, Mario Lucas was older. Blah, blah, blah didn't matter. On January 15, he brought Joe Smith and Keith Booth in and said, 'Hey, my man, you Joe Smith weren't even supposed to be that good, and you're great. Now, everyone knows who you are, what are you going to do? And Keith Booth, you are great and you're a tough dude.' And Booth gave you that look like, 'Oh yeah, really, I'll show you.' And all those two did was take the team over and lead us to the Sweet 16. Like, sometimes somebody has to do that. Rodney Elliott, Sarunas Jasikevicius just did it.

MORE ON WILLARD

"Sarunas had an unbelievable two-year career. Rodney Elliott was like; I've been sitting for four years waiting. Like you have to have your guys who help you win games but also have everybody ready. And I'm really interested to see, and Willard is great. I was out there watching him coach. The scout was great. His motivation was great. He pushed the right buttons. You got to make some plays, and you can't let that guy hit a three on the out of bounds play that he went over 15 times in shootaround. I was there, OK, 15. Like, hey, man, sometimes it's on the players and it's on you two. I think what happened in Oregon was a positive. I just wish it flipped. You know me, I wish for a lot of things, and I'm sunshine. I wanted to beat Washington. I don't care what happens to Oregon, let's go get UCLA. But we didn't do it. We didn't get Uncle Jimmy's split on the road trip with milkshakes and ice cream. So, you guys now are 0-2. This is a big game coming up Friday."

MORE FROM PATSOS

"I love you guys. I miss you. I'll come in. But hey, Sunshine is happy. The future is bright. I just, I want to be ready to go and play. It's conference play, and you got to be ready. And nobody cares how old you are anymore and everything. Like Queen is having a fabulous year, and I know he's on the draft boards. But like, it's a mock draft, not a draft, it's a mock draft. So, like, you got to produce for the next two months, if that's what you want. But it's a next interesting month. But Ken, you have us beating UCLA? Let me ask you, are we beating UCLA? … I'm coming by [your broadcast] because I'll be there too…"
