Outshoot your opponent by 20 (44-24), pick up 7 more ground ball (26-19) and win 18of 22 faceoffs and lose.

Telling stats. Penn State took 44 shots, of which only 18 were on goal and scored 8 goals. That means less then 20% of their shots resulted in goals. On the good guy's side, Maryland took 24 shots, of which 15 were on goal and scored 10 goals.

I have not refereed lacrosse for quite a while, but I thought the penalty on Canfield was excessive. If I remember the rule a 3 minute non releasable involved malice. I did not see the malice. Nevertheless, Penn State played the 3 minutes rather conservatively, and almost all their shots were either high or wide. Praise to the Terp man up defense and Coach Berhardt.

I wish there was a stat for time of possession.
