So, some possible interesting developments from last night.
First, it sounds like Luke Murray might be picking up some steam with regards to the Maryland job. I’m still a bit skeptical that he’s the guy, but this person is pretty plugged in. That said, when I asked about a possible staff, any players he could be bringing, etc….nothing. This always gives me pause.
Now this second nugget is also very interesting and could possibly have a direct affect on Murray. I’m hearing Willard could be looking to poach associate head coach Kimani Young from Dan Hurley at UConn. Why would he make that move? I would think they will try to make him an offer he can’t refuse. But something to remember, Young is a NYC guy who comes from the AAU ranks. He’s also tight with the Pitinos, as his first college job was with Richard at FAU and he followed him to Minnesota. If that were to happen, I’m guessing UConn would likely step up with a huge raise for Murray and probably the associate head coach title. Had one person tell me there’s no way you turn down Maryland to remain as an assistant coach, but these are unusual times and Maryland has no athletic director. It could also be Hurley or Willard trying to run interference on Maryland. But just thought I’d throw it out there.
