As we all know, every school was adversely affected by COVID, but we now know just how in the red Maryland was last year due to the pandemic. According to the Sun, the school brought in just 60.9 mil in revenue this past fiscal year, down from the 92.3 mil it brought in the year prior. Of the 60.9 mil, 33.7 mil came from the conference. Total expenses were 81.8 million, which amounts to a 20.9 million dollar deficit. These numbers, in my opinion, show just how critical this basketball hire is. Maryland has one of the largest basketball arenas in the country and hoops ticket revenue is a big part of keeping the athletic department profitable overall. If they don't get butts back in the seats at Xfinity, it could be a major issue. Full story HERE.
