Alongside the raisers is a group of newcomers to the rankings that has the potential to shake up the class before it's all said and done. This prompted 247Sports to highlight the biggest movers and top newcomers of the 2025 basketball rankings update.
A'MARE BYNUM (54-spot rankings Jump)
New Ranking: No. 46 overall
Previous Ranking: No. 100 overall
College Choice: Ohio State Buckeyes
Analysis: Although he plays alongside nationally ranked Bigs in Chris Cenac and John Clark, there have been times when A'mare Bynum has looked like the best frontcourt prospect of group. The Ohio State signee fits the mold of the traditional, big-bodied post player for the Buckeyes. He has terrific hands and seems to always put himself in the right position on the floor.
CHRISTIAN JEFFREY (26-spot rankings jump)
New Ranking: No. 69 overall
Previous Ranking: No. 95 overall
College Choice: Maryland Terrapins
Analysis: Christian Jeffrey has been a standout performer at several of the events 247Sports has attended since our last update. Our Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein describes Jeffery as a one the most competitive, powerful and physically aggressive guards in the country. He'll be loved by the Terrapins for his ability to dictate winning.
BRAYDON HAWTHORNE (79-spot rankings jump)
New Ranking: No. 70 overall
Previous Ranking: No. 149 overall
College Choice: West Virginia Mountaineers
Analysis: Braydon Hawthorne is a gangly 6-foot-8 recruit who we've been high on since the Thanksgiving break. Physically, the future Mountaineer forward needs to add weight to his painfully slender frame. But, he possesses a ton of unteachable gifts to go along with a legit skill set and his overwhelming willingness to compete.
CHAMBERLAIN BURGESS (48-Spot Rankings Jump)
New Ranking: No. 97 overall
Previous Ranking: No. 145 overall
College Choice: BYU Cougars
Analysis: Chamberlain Burgess may be an under-the-radar national signee in a BYU recruiting class that's headlined by AJ Dybantsa. but he could turn out to be a serious steal for the Cougars. He was a standout at the 5 for the Fight Hoopfest where he posted a double-double stat-line while flashing a translatable toolkit. He'll have to get stronger to help carry these skills over to college, but he has a lot of upsides as a floor-spacing four-man.
KILLYAN TOURE (RANKING DEBUT)
Debut Ranking: No. 99 overall
College Choice: Iowa State Cyclones
Analysis: Killyan Toure has had a productive for New Hampshire's Brewster Academy. Also, the 6-foot-3 athletic guard, who is originally from France, found a perfect match with Iowa State. He's an eager defender who is more than capable of making plays on both ends of the floor.
MICHAEL PHILLIPS (RANKING DEBUT)
Debut Ranking: No. 101 overall
College Choice: Marquette Golden Eagles
Analysis: Michael Phillips was a standout performer last month at the John Wall Holiday Classic. Our Adam Finkelstein views him as a plus-athlete with positional size who has all the variables to be a reliable two-way player for the Golden Eagles. A recruit who classed up a grade once he committed, Phillips shows flashes of high-level potential which should turn into on-court production for Shaka Smart.
LINO MARK (RANKING DEBUT)
Debut Ranking: No. 125 overall
College Choice: Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Analysis: Lino Mark makes his debut after continuing to assert himself as one of the most explosive lead guards in the class. His speed, burst and quickness will immediately translate to the Big Ten. He can get to the paint whenever he wants and is a ballhawk when checking opposing guards on the defensive end.
TYRIN JONES (RANKING DEBUT)
Debut Ranking: No. 136 overall
College Choice: UNLV Rebels
Analysis: Tyrin Jones shined throughout the high-level December events that took place on the West Coast. During both the Tarkanian and Damien Classic, Jones proved to be a long-term recruit who refuses to hang his hat on his upside. He's bouncy with long strides and is always leaving an imprint on the game.
