Last year KW exceeded expectations. Started 8-0; a rebound aways from a 2nd place BIG finish and a ticket to the Dance with one win. This year started season barely outside Top 25 and projected third place BIG finish. Almost half the season is over and things look VERY bleak and beyond repair. It seems that most non-blue blood teams (who cannot recruit at that high level) are doing well as a result of using the portal with seasoned veterans not mid-ranked-high schoolers. I hope and quite frankly expect that KW has learned his lesson and will aggressively hit the portal in the offseason for a roster overhaul provided we raise enough NIL money to give him the flexibility and cash to do so. I hope he targets some 3 point snipers because they truly impact the game. Finally, I also believe we tend to minizine losing 3 assistants in one year as to what that does to a program from a coaching and recruiting standpoint.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — The Maryland-Purdue women's basketball game will be made up Sunday, Jan. 14 at noon at the XFINITY Center. The game will be streamed on B1G+. Fans are encouraged to wear black as part of the Blackout theme!

Season-ticket holders will receive a ticket for the rescheduled game in their emails.

Fans who purchased a single game ticket to the Jan. 6 game versus Purdue have the following options:

1. You can retain your ticket for use at the rescheduled game vs. Purdue on Sunday.
2. You can exchange your ticket for a future Maryland Women's Basketball home game this season. If you purchased a physical ticket, you may redeem your ticket at a game of your choice as a voucher. If you purchased your tickets digitally, please call the Maryland Ticket Office before the day of the game you would like to attend to receive a new ticket. Exchanges cannot be made for a sold out game.
3. You can receive a refund for your purchase by calling the Terrapin Ticket Office by no later than Thursday, Jan. 11 at 4pm.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Maryland football head coach Michael Locksley has been named to the prestigious Washingtonians of the Year List for 2023 and will be recognized, along with nine others who are making a difference in the area, at a luncheon on Wednesday.

Washingtonian magazine has put this list out for 52 years, honoring 10 local heroes each year who are using their experience, smarts, and creativity to make the this region a better place to live.

Joining Locksley on the 2023 Washingtonian of the Year list is: Darius Baxter (Founder and CEO, GOODProjects), Deb Gottesman (Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director, The Theatre Lab), Monty Hoffman (Founder and Chairman, Hoffman Associates), Mirah Horowitz (Founder and CEO, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue), Nicole Lynn Lewis(Founder and CEO, Generation Hope), Alan Meltzer, (CEO, NFP/The Meltzer Group), Richard Reyes-Gavilan (Executive Director, DC Public Library), Tom Wilson (Professional Hockey Player, Washington Capitals), Shawn Yancy (Anchor at New4, Founder of Girls Night Out).

"Like previous Washingtonians of the Year, this year’s honorees are doing incredible work to help those in our community—and to help the city itself—succeed,” says Washingtonian editor Sherri Dalphonse. “This annual article is a reminder that one person really can make a difference."

Locksley was voted onto the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington in the summer of 2021. Locksley, who grew up in Washington, D.C., was a Boys & Girls club kid when he was a youth and his goal is to make an impact with kids in that community. After winning the 2022 Duke's Mayo Bowl, Locksley had mayonnaise dumped on his head and as part of that annual bowl tradition, he was afforded the opportunity to give $10,000 to a charity of his choosing. He selected the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington.

Locksley also founded the National Coalition of Minority Football Coaches (NCMFC) in 2020 with the goal of preparing, promoting, and producing minority coaches at all levels of football (professional, collegiate, scholastic, and recreational). Through unmatched professional training and educational programs, the NCMFC prepares its coaches for greater success. The NCMFC serves as a sounding board, a resource and an ally for all who desire meaningful diversity and inclusion in coaching by identifying minority-coaching candidates who are capable of producing on the field or in the booth.

Locksley is also a big proponent of mental health awareness. He dedicates one Maryland game each year as a "Mental Health Awareness" game. The football program works with its campus partners and the media to promote awareness of those dealing with mental health issues.

Washingtonian will honor its 2023 Washingtonians of the Year with a luncheon, sponsored by Deloitte and PNC, from 11:30 am-1:30 pm on January 10 at The Willard Intercontinental.

We’re about 15 minutes from tip-off between the Terps and Gophers in Minny.

Minnesota comes into this one having won six straight while the Terps are coming off a bad home loss and have struggled on the road.

That said, Terps won at Minny last season so they have some history winning there.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Three members of the Maryland football team have been named Academic All-District, as announced by College Sports Communicators. The 2023 Academic All‐District Team recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Representing the Terrapins are sophomore long snapper Ethan Gough, sophomore running back Roman Hemby and junior defensive back Dante Trader Jr. Each student-athlete was also selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.

To be considered for a CSC Academic All-District Team, nominees must be at least a sophomore with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution. They also must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the games/contests.

First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced January 23.

We're about a half hour from tipoff between the Terps and Boilermakers in College Park.

Huge opportunity for the Terps tonight as they look to upset Zach Edey and No. 1 Purdue in College Park for a second straight season. It isn't going to be easy though, as Edey is putting up even bigger numbers this season than last and Purdue's sophomore guards are really shooting the ball much better than they did a year ago.

Jahmir is back after missing the Coppin game due to the flu. He was named B1G Player of the Week earlier today for his play vs. Nicholls and UCLA.

2.5 is the spread. The game apparently will be televised on BTN at 5:30 Sunday. Good grief!

Pretty big news here as AAR is headed back to College Park to coach under Locksley. This could be absolutely huge for recruiting moving forward. Former Bmore Sun beat writer Matt Zenitz first with the news.

Disappointed that our Transfer and returning vets have not lived up to their hype Plus our lack of having a true point guard. We lost the Reynolds sisters and a pg transfer. This caught our staff short handed. Next year we rebuild and pray that Hawa and Riley Nelson both grow into starter positions.
