COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland basketball head coach
Kevin Willard announced today the official addition of Indiana transfer Jordan Geronimo and Loyola Marymount transfer Chance Stephens to the 2023-24 incoming class. Geronimo joins the Terps after playing three seasons and 82 games with the Hoosiers, while Stephens is a sharp-shooting guard who comes to Maryland after playing his freshman season with the Lions.
"We're excited to welcome Jordan and Chance to the Maryland program," said Willard. "Jordan is a veteran player who can help us in a lot of different areas – particularly on the defensive end with his length and overall with his high-level of overall experience. Chance gives us another experienced guard who can help open up our spacing with his shooting. He is a personable leader who also fits our culture and has a high work ethic that will push others."
With Indiana, Geronimo, who has a 7-foot wingspan, played in 82 career games with six starts (all last season) where he averaged 4.2 points and 2.7 rebounds. In his three seasons, he hit .528 from the field overall and has 49 career blocked shots. In 2021-22, he averaged a career-best 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds for the Hoosiers and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection.

He averaged 18 points, nine rebounds and two blocks per game that season and was also an All-New England Class A honoree. He also played on the AAU circuit for Mass Rivals which he led to the Adidas Gauntlet finals.
Geronimo's mother, Dawn Royster Geronimo, was a standout at North Carolina where she was an All-America honorable mention as a senior in 1987. She was a two-time All-ACC First Team honoree, the ACC Rookie of the Year and was the ACC Tournament MVP in 1985.
A native of Riverside, CA, Stephens played in 28 games with four starts for the Lions last season averaging 6.0 points in 17.1 minutes per contest as a true freshman. He hit 49 three-pointers (out of 52 total made field goals) at a clip of 37.4 percent from beyond the arc. His 49 treys were third-most on the team. In LMU's win over Wake Forest in the Jamaica Classic Championship game, Stephens was 7-of-10 from deep for a career high 23 points earning MVP honors for the tournament and WCC Freshman of the Week accolades. Overall, he had 11 games with multiple threes including eight with three-or-more.
The 6-foot-3 guard joined the Lions after a standout prep career at Riverside Polytechnic High School where he was a three-time all-conference selection. As a senior, he earned All-CIF honors as well.
The addition of Geronimo and Stephens brings Maryland's total newcomers to six including the No. 15 recruiting class in the country made up of DeShawn Harris-Smith (Fairfax, VA), Jamie Kaiser (Burke, VA), Jahnathan Lamothe (Baltimore, MD), and Braden Pierce (Woodstock, GA).
