COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The sixth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team beat Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 101-56, Wednesday evening at the XFINITY Center in its final exhibition game of the season.

Junior Shatori Walker-Kimbrough led six Terrapins in double figures with 22 points with six rebounds and three assists. She went 8-for-9 from the foul line. Freshman Brianna Fraser had 12 points with 10 rebounds. Junior Brionna Jones scored 15 points with seven boards, while freshman Kiah Gillespie and redshirt senior Brene Moseley each scored 12.

Senior Malina Howard added 10 points and senior guard Chloe Pavlech dished seven assists with no turnovers.

“I liked how we came out early and how we were ready to play,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “I thought we were really aggressive and set the tone with our defense. IUP played really hard, every look they had they were able to knock down. There are definitely some things we have to improve on defensively, but was a solid game for us to be able to build upon with it being our second exhibition game."

Jones finished a layup six seconds in and helped the Terrapins open on a 13-2 run over the first three minutes of the game. She and Walker-Kimbrough scored all 13 points in the opening run.

Howard and sophomore Kiara Leslie added eight points and seven points to help Maryland to a 57-29 lead at half. Nine Terrapins scored in the first period.

Walker-Kimbrough picked up where she left off at the start of the second off, opening a quick Maryland run with an easy layup.

Gillespie and Fraser each added 10 of their points in the second half as Maryland extended its lead.

The Terps won the battle on the boards, 58-28, and scored 52 points in the paint to the Crimson Hawks’ 14.

The Terrapins are ranked No. 6 in the USA Today Division I Top 25 Coaches Preseason poll and No. 9 in the Associated Press preseason poll.
