The Terps will host just a handful of official football visitors, but they are some key prospects they sit in very good position for.

The Terps are set to host their highest ranked offensive target this weekend in Shaleak Knotts. This will be Knotts' second time in College Park this month, as he was also on campus the weekend of the Jones-Hill House unveiling. Knotts took an OV to Georgia a couple of weeks ago and said UGA and Maryland were among his top schools. With Knotts making a second trip to CP and a commitment expected sometime before the start of the season, I very much like Maryland's chances heading into the visit. I'm not sure Knotts is a take for UGA at this time, which should bolster Maryland's chances. That said, Maryland would likely have to continue fighting off UNC and possibly Louisville who will continue to pursue Knotts until he's officially signed. But this is a position Locksley has a lot of success with and there are others like Zohn Burden and Scott Chadwick that are really helping the cause.

The Terps are set to host the Spalding three-star defensive back for an official this weekend with the Terps in a solid spot to eventually land a commitment here. Delane was in College Park in early June for an unofficial visit with Spalding teammate and current Maryland commit Kellan Wyatt. He has also taken visits to Virginia Tech, Illinois and Minnesota. We'll have a better understanding of where his recruitment stands following this visit, but for now, I like where Maryland sits. If the Terps can knock this visit out of the park, it should only bolster their chances.

A new name that was not initially set to OV to Maryland last month, Prentice has blown up over the past several weeks. He impressed coaches at the Florida State satellite (they called it a 'mega') camp back on June 6, earning several offers on the spot, including Maryland, Kansas State, Coastal Carolina and ECU. The Alabama native racked up 1,034 all-purpose yards last fall, including 731 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. With a number of wideouts set to move on after the upcoming season, the Terps will likely take several WR this cycle.

Three-star DT Sir Mells, who was initially expected to take an OV this weekend committed to Oregon at the beginning of the month and has shut his recruitment down.
