Wow, in a bit of a shocker, Patrick Ewing has apparently been hired as the new head coach at Georgetown. Heard yesterday that he was interviewing for the job today and was the frontrunner.
Ewing has a great rep among NBA coaches, but has zero college experience. The staff he brings in is going to be critical. Initially wondered if Raphael Chillious would join Ewing if he were the hire early on, but now that he's with his buddy Kevin Ollie, not sure they can lure him here. Will also throw this out there, I had heard Kenny Johnson's name as a possible dark horse for the head job, given the money G'town is throwing around, wonder if he'd come back as an associate head coach type. Will be interesting to see who he brings in, but honestly, I don't love this hire if I'm a Hoyas fan.
