Kevin Willard was on the road in New Jersey yesterday to see Matt Hodge for a follow up visit less than 48 hours after Hodge finished up his official visit to College Park on Sunday. He was joined by assistant Mike Jones, who is the lead on Hodge and played in college with his father. Still feel like the Terps are clearly the team to beat here with a decision likely coming this month. As I mentioned the other day, UVA got a commitment from another top 100 PF over the weekend and from what I understand, they are pretty much done recruiting bigs for the 2024 class and are no longer in the picture. Villanova likely the biggest competition at this point with Marquette and PSU also still in the mix. But again, very much like where the Terps stand with an announcement likely coming soon.

While Willard and Jones were in NJ yesterday, assistant Greg Manning Jr. was down in Atlanta for the OTE Pro Day, checking in on 2025 top-20 wing Efeosa Oliogu, who was recently in College Park for an offocial visit. Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl was also in Atlanta yesterday and the Tigers appear to be the Terps' biggest threat as of now along with Missouri. He was originally scheduled to visit Auburn this weekend but the visit is in the process of being rescheduled for sometime next month. But again, Terps seem to be in a pretty good spot here for one of the elite players in the 2025 class who still could possibly reclass to 2024.

Finally, I know I've mentioned this several times, but Kentucky's John Calipari and Indiana's Mike Woodson were both in NY for a coaches clinic with Woodson going in-home at the time last week with Boogie Fland, who's school hosted the clinic. The biggest thing with Fland's recruitment has been whether or not Calipari would really go all out for him because there appeared to be a lot of interest on Fland's end. Well, Calipari was back in NY yesterday with Chin for an open gym and to go in-home. It sure appears that they have decided to go all-in on him now. I think at this point you can pretty much scratch Fland's name from even the long shot list and expect Willard to likely be in the market for a portal guard in the offseason.
