as often said by sportscaster Keith Jackson is where the football program is at today. By all accounts it appears that RE will be gone by late Saturday night. Since the day he was hired this day was coming. Not much of a surprise to most of us. A bad hire is a bad hire and no amount of rose colored glasses or pie in the sky dreaming is going to change that. Now in what direction does the UMD Administration go?

Does the UMD finally make a solid hiring of someone regardless of "money" to finally put to rest the long list of coaching failure's from Krivack to Duffner to Vandelinden to Ralph (although he did have great success his first three years), to RE. Can the UMD finally shake off the curse of Bobby Ross with the arrival of better facilities and a top level coach. Remember when the Terps were ranked #1 in the pre-season for football? The basketball program is back where it should be so why can't the football program at least be super competitive in the B1G to match the rest of the UMD? The UMD is a very good to great university in many other ways, so its time to elevate the football program to match the rest of the university. You can have a great football program and live side-by-side with a great academic-research university. It does and can happen.

Build the academic support program to give the UMD athlete especially those whom dearly need it the best possible support so those kids/our kids ALL graduate with a meaningful UMD degree. Continue to upgrade where it makes sense. We/I don't need a 100K stadium, but 55K full with anticipation of winning is a start.

Free up the recruiting process to allow all kids of character whom meet the minimum NCAA standards to enroll at the UMD. If the kid is qualified but still shaky, automatically red-shirt him, and develop a BIG TIME support program for freshman...Call it "Freshman for Success at the UMD".

Even I'm surprised that the UMD has been hearing us and making changes quickly. Whether they are really hearing us I don't know, but the RE train wreck was obvious to most of us from the start. IMHO I bet the UMD has been putting together their own list, talking to people, and formulating a game plan. Will they do a real search or narrow it down to a few candidates and interview? Now that the cat is out of the bag, how many other good coaches will put their hat in the ring? One question from me is/will the next coach be able to put a winner on the field in year three(3)? If not, then move on. I don't want to hear, well its gonna take 6 years to make us competitive or crap like that.. If you can't open that door in year 3, then you ain't that special...

Time to get a coach whom is special is everything he does. I want special and I look forward to the day when the UMD as an entire university whom supports the football team on game day says in a collective voice to anyone and I mean anyone, "THE PARK IS MINE"!!!!!!!!
