So after discussing the two big St. Joe's guards in the transfer portal, I totally forgot to check on Martelli's incoming recruits. One St. Joe's commit, Hakim Hart, has been granted his release and is looking for a new home. He'll visit Maryland this weekend.
Hart played his AAU ball for Philly Pride, the same program that Donta Scott played for and the two were teammates last summer.
I've actually seen Hart play but it was a while ago and at that time he was definitely more of a low to mid-major prospect. He could knock down threes, but had a bit of a low release and played below the rim with a small frame.
Fast forward to this past season and Hart absolutely blew up. He had a growth spurt and was first-team All-City and All-Catholic League at Roman Catholic. He also won the Markward Award, which is presented to the top player in the City (public, catholic, etc.) Talked to a few Philly sources about him and they believe he's definitely gone from a mid-major prospect to a P5 prospect. He averaged 20 points, 6.7 rebounds 4 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
Temple, Notre Dame, Northwestern, G'town and St. Joe's some of the schools currently in the mix now that he's reopened his recruitment. But with him visiting Maryland this weekend and already having a connection with Donta Scott, the Terps could be in the drivers seat here.
