With this past weekend's big recruiting haul now in the rear view, we take a quick look back, as well as a look ahead to this coming weekend, in which Mike Locksley & Co. are set to host several more key 2019 visitors as Feb. 6 fast approaches.

Last weekend's commits

First, lets take a quick look at last weekend's four new commits. The first to officially come on board was JUCO DE Sam Okuayinonu. He really gets after the QB in his film and should add significant depth to the D-line. He visited USF before committing to Maryland.

Erwin Byrd was second to commit last weekend. The two-star corner brings good size and 6-foot, 175. He chose the Terps over Pitt and Colorado.

Three-star safety Treron Collins out of Ga. was the third to commit. This looks to be an excellent pick up, with Collins standing 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 190 pounds. Collins had a number of P5 offers and was thought to be an Ole Miss lean before visiting Maryland and committing to the Terps. He was originally scheduled to visit Ole Miss next weekend but he's cancelled that visit.

Finally, the fourth commit was Florida three-star safety Cortez Andrews. Although listed as a safety, at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, Andrews was recruited to play linebacker at Maryland. Like Collins, Andrews had a number of P5 offers and originally had a visit scheduled to Louisville next weekend. That visit has been cancelled, and while Andrews has not officially announced yet for the Terps, he will be choosing Maryland during a ceremony on Feb. 6.

As for the three unsigned commits that visited last weekend, Deshawn Holt is officially on board with the new staff. Kam Blount is also back on board with the new staff, but he will be officially announcing his commitment to Maryland on Feb. 6 at a ceremony at his school. Finally, four-star DB Tank Land is not expected to be a part of Maryland's class at this time.

This weekend's visitors

Looking ahead to this weekend, the Terps have several new 2019 visitors expected who could also be pledging to Mike Locksley and Maryland.

Bergen Catholic two-star TE Tyler Devera had Mike Locksley and new TE coach Mike Miller went in-home with Devera yesterday and he's expected to officially visit Maryland this weekend. He has visited Colorado and Louisville the past two weekends and Louisville appears to be in a good spot following their visit. But the Terps will get the last visit here for the former Rutgers commit and Maryland is in need of TEs.

Maryland is also set to host 2019 four-star dual-threat QB Lance Legendre out of New Orleans. Locksley offered a few days ago and recruited Legendre while at Alabama. He took an official visit to Florida State last weekend and everything I've heard is that it went very well and Legendre really liked everything that new FSU OC Briles laid out for him. That said, Legendre was previously committed to Kansas and is really looking for the right fit, both as far as offense goes as well as with the coaches. Most folks right now seem to think FSU is the team to beat coming off of his visit there, but I've been told not to count on Locksley and Maryland as they have a real shot here.

The Terps are also expected to host current UCF OL commit Marcus Finger of Ft. Myers, Fla. He doesn't not current hold an offer, but one should be coming this weekend and if/when it does, he's likely to commit. Miami has also shown recent interest as Finger waited until the late period to sign in hopes of some P5 offers.

Finally, the Terps were expected to host three-star DE and former Arkansas commit Dante Walker this upcoming weekend, but he committed to Marshall yesterday. You can read between the lines on this one, but Marshall is known for taking certain kids other schools might not.

As for possible transfers, as noted a couple of days ago, Maryland has reached out to a pair of Rutgers transfers in OL Jonah Jackson and TE Nakia Griffin-Stewart. Griffin-Stewart confirmed with me that he has a Maryland offer and is set to graduate in the spring but has no visits set up at this time. Jackson might be the most sought after grad transfer OL and is expected to visit Ohio St. soon. He will be tough to land, but the Terps have thrown their hat into the ring. One other name asked about was Virginia Tech QB transfer Josh Jackson. After speaking with a source, I'm told Jackson will not be looking at Maryland, so it looks like you can likely strike his name from the board.
