WBB: Terps to host Glenville State for Exhibition on Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's basketball team will host Glenville State in its first of two exhibition matches of the year Sunday at noon at the XFINITY Center. For tickets, visit the Terrapin Ticket Office online here or call 1-800-IM-A-TERP.

Sunday's preseason matchup will not be streamed online, but live stats will be availablehere.

Sophomore Kaila Charles was selected to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team by both the league’s head coaches and media panel earlier this week.

Ohio State was selected to win the Big Ten by both the coaches and the media, with the Terrapins selected to finish second. Michigan was picked to finish third by the head coaches and tie Maryland for second by the media.

Head coach Brenda Frese and the Terrapins begin the season ranked No. 13 in the USA Today Sports Preseason Coaches poll.

The Terps represented the USA in the World University games this summer in Taipei, Taiwan. The U.S. went 5-1 in the tournament, earning wins over Canada, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Poland and Uganda.

The Glenville State Pioneers were picked to win the Mountain East Conference this season. The Pioneers return eight players who averaged 20 minutes last season from a team that went 24-6 and won the MEC regular season title. They advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Paris McLeod, the reigning league Player Of The Year, is back after averaging 18.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.9 steals per game.

Maryland will host Bowie State in its final exhbition Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. at the XFINITY Center.

Maryland will officially open its 2017-18 season on Friday, Nov. 10 vs. NCAA Tournament team Albany. The Terrapins and the Great Danes will tip off at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. Later that weekend, Maryland will welcome 2017 NCAA Champion South Carolina to College Park on Monday, Nov. 13. For tickets, visit the Terrapin Ticket Office online hereor call 1-800-IM-A-TERP.
