COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland women's basketball team released its complete slate for 2019-29 season Friday. TheTerrapins' upcoming slate includes home contests with the other five top teams in the Big Ten from last season.
In Big Ten play, the Terrapins will host Rutgers, Nebraska, Michigan State, and Purdue at the XFINITY Center. Maryland will take on Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Indiana and Iowa in home-and-home matchups and will play at Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. Maryland will open Big Ten play with a matchup Michigan on Saturday, Dec. 28 at the XFINITY Center. The Terrapins will play at Northwestern on New Years Eve.
The Terps return home for a game against Ohio State on Monday, Jan. 6, before back-to-back road games at Iowa and Michigan on Jan. 9 and 12. Maryland will welcome Nebraska on Thursday, Jan. 16.
A home game against Indiana on Monday, Jan. 20 opens a four-game stretch over 10 days with the Hoosiers matchup, followed by a game at Illinois on Jan. 23, a home game against Northwestern on Jan. 26 and a matchup at Ohio State on Jan. 30.
Maryland will open the month of February by hosting Michigan State on Monday, Feb. 3, then will play at Indiana on Thursday, Feb. 6.
Next, the Terrapins will return home for a pair of games. They host Rutgers on Sunday, Feb. 9 and Iowa on Thursday, Feb. 13.
The Terps will play three of their last four regular season games on the road, beginning with a matchup at Penn State on Sunday, Feb. 16, then will play at Wisconsin on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Maryland will host Purdue on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in the Terrapins' final regular season home game of the year. Then, the Terrapins will close out the regular season on Sunday, March 1 at Minnesota.
Last season, the Terrapins earned a record of 29-5 last season and won the Big Ten regular season title. They advanced to the Big Ten Tournament championship game for the fifth straight year and then went to the NCAA Second Round.
The Terps welcome back all five starters, including All-Big Ten honorees Kaila Charles, Stephanie Jones, Shakira Austin and Big Ten Freshman of the Year Taylor Mikesell.
This year, Maryland welcomes the No. 3 freshman class in the country, featuring Faith Masonius, Diamond Miller, Ashley Owusu and Zoe Young, as well as transfer Mimi Collins.
The Terrapins' non-conference schedule is highlighted by contests with South Carolina, Clemson and North Carolina State. The Terrapins will also take on RPI top-50 team Quinnipiac and 2019 NCAA Tournament participant Belmont. The Terrapins will officially open the new season on Wednesday, Nov. 6 with a home matchup against Wagner.
