WBB: No. 14 Terps travel to Coppin St. Wednesday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The 14th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (10-2) will play at Coppin State (1-10) Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Eagles' Physical Education Complex Arena in Baltimore.

Junior guard Eleanna Christinaki will make her Maryland debut in Wednesday's game, after sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer rules. She played her first 40 career games at Florida, where she earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors in 2016. Through nine games last year, she averaged 17.6 points and 4.7 boards per game.

The Terrapins beat Loyola, 114-45, on Dec. 11 in their last game before exam week. The Terps set a program record with 37 assists and had just six turnovers. Blair Watson led the way with a career-high 24 points off six threes, with six assists. Brianna Fraser scored 20,Kaila Charles added 18 points and Stephanie Jones chipped in 16. Ieshia Small scored 13 off the bench.

Six Terrapins are scoring in double figures - Kaila Charles (18.3), Blair Watson (13.0),Ieshia Small (12.8), Stephanie Jones (12.4), Kristen Confroy (10.8) and Brianna Fraser(10.8).

Watson (+10.1), Charles (+8.8) and Small (+7.7) are currently the Big Ten's top three most improved scorers. Small (+7.7) is No. 6, Confroy (+5.7) is No. 13 and Fraser (+4.7) is No. 14 in the league.

The Terrapins own the all-time series vs. the Eagles, 13-0, and are 1-0 at the Physical Education Complex Arena. Most recently, they won 110-51 in Baltimore on Dec. 21, 2014.

Maryland is ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press poll and No. 14 in the USA Today Coaches poll.

After Wednesday's contest, the Terrapins will enjoy a break for the holidays. They will open Big Ten play vs. Illinois (9-5) on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 6 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. For tickets, click here or call 1-800-IM-A-TERP.
