WBB: No. 13 Terps travel to Michigan Thursday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The 13th-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team (22-5, 11-3 B1G) will take on Michigan (20-8, 9-6) Thursday at 6 p.m. ET at the Wolverines’ Crisler Center in Ann Arbor.

Thursday's matchup is the sixth all-time between Maryland and Michigan. The Terps have won all five previous meetings, including four since joining the Big Ten. The Terrapins won 83-70 in College Park last year on Jan. 19. Kaila Charles scored 16 points. Maryland is 2-0 at the Crisler Center.

Most recently, Maryland fell to a hot-shooting Minnesota team, 93-74, Sunday in Minneapolis. Kaila Charles led the Terps with 16 points, 14 rebounds. Stephanie Jonesadded 13 points and Kristen Confroy and Ieshia Small each scored 12. Four Gophers combined to shoot 14-for-24 (58 percent) from outside the arc.

Seven Terps are scoring over 9.0 points per game - Kaila Charles (17.8), Blair Watson(13.8), Eleanna Christinaki (13.5), Stephanie Jones (11.6), Kristen Confroy (10.32),Brianna Fraser (10.0) and Ieshia Small (9.4).

The Terrapins are currently ranked No. 3 in the country in three-point field goal percentage (.401) and No. 6 in scoring margin (+18.9). Confroy is No. 6 in the country and leads the Big Ten in three-point FG percentage (.471). Charles is No. 8 in the league in scoring, No. 9 in rebounding and No. 5 in field goal percentage. Freshman Channise Lewis averages 5.1 assists, which is tied for fourth in the Big Ten overall and No. 2 among freshmen around the country. She is third in the league overall in assist/turnover ratio (2.7).

Charles has scored in double figures in 25 of 27 games this season. Confroy has played in 110 straight games, dating back to February of her freshman year. With three three-pointers at Rutgers Feb. 11, Confroy became the second Terp to hit 200 career threes. She is tied for No. 2 in the Maryland record books in career three-point percentage (.408).

Maryland is ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press poll and in the USA Today Coaches poll.
