COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland women’s basketball head coach Brenda Frese of the Maryland women's basketball team welcomed Noelle Cobb to her staff as Director of Recruiting/Assistant Coach Tuesday.

Cobb comes to College Park after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Kennesaw State. Prior to her time at Kennesaw, Cobb spent two seasons at the University of Miami as the director of video and interim assistant coach.

“Noelle is a terrific hire for us,” Frese said. “She is a rising star in the profession. She is experienced, humble, hard working and will be someone our players will love to be around. We are thrilled to welcome her to our Maryland family."

“It is truly an honor and privilege to be able to be a part of the Maryland family and winning tradition,” Cobb said. “I’ve always watched Coach Frese and how she represents herself, her teams, and the Maryland program and that’s what I wanted to be a part of - a true family. I’m so grateful and excited to continue to develop and give everything I have to this program.”

Cobb helped the Owls improve their record by six wins in one season. She spent the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons at Miami. Cobb came to Coral Gables after two years at UNC Greensboro, where she served as a graduate assistant. She was promoted to interim assistant coach in December of 2020.

Prior to joining the Spartans, Cobb took part in the WBCA’s “So You Want To Be A Coach” program in March 2017. The three-day workshop in Dallas featured instruction on recruiting, administration, skill development, game rules, work-life balance and more.

Cobb, who has worked both Byron Scott and Doug Bruno’s basketball camps, started 41 contests in two seasons at the University of La Verne. She averaged 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 48.0 percent.

Before heading to La Verne, Cobb was a two-year captain at Fullerton Junior College, earning first team all-conference honors as a sophomore.

Cobb graduated from La Verne in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in educational studies and later received a master’s degree in applied arts & sciences from UNCG in 2019.

Due to a recent NCAA rules change, basketball programs are now permitted to have five assistant coach positions on staff, but only three can recruit off campus.
