COLLEGE PARK, MD – Senior Diamond Miller of the 19th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team is one of 50 top players in the country named to the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch List Tuesday.

Miller is currently averaging 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks through two games this season. In Sunday's win over Fordham, she scored 22 points with a career-high 13 rebounds for her fourth career double-double.

Before the season, Miller was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List for the nation's top shooting guard and the Naismith Trophy Watch List. She was named to the All-Big Ten Preseason Team for the second straight season as well.

Miller, a two-time All-Big Ten honoree and 2021 Big Ten Tournament Co-MVP, is Maryland's leading returning scorer after averaging 13.1 points and 4.0 rebounds last year. Miller earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors.

Miller became the 36th Terrapin to reach the 1,000-career points mark with her 23-point performance in the Terps' NCAA Tournament First Round win over Delaware.

The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2023 John R. Wooden Award Women's Player of the Year presented by Wendy's. Players not chosen to the preseason list are still eligible for the Wooden Award midseason list, late season list, and the National Ballot. The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award. Nearly 1,000 voters will rank in order 10 of those 15 players when voting opens prior to the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early round games. The Wooden Award All American Team will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2023 John R. Wooden Award will be presented in Los Angeles in April.

Miller and the Terrapins (2-1) will host Davidson (1-1) Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the XFINITY Center in the Terrapins' annual Field Trip Day game. The matchup will be streamed on B1G+.
