ROSEMONT, Ill. – Sophomore Kaila Charles of the Maryland women’s basketball team was selected to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team by both the league’s head coaches and media panel Monday afternoon.

Charles, a Glenn Dale, Md. native, earned All-Big Ten Freshman Team honors last year after starting in all 35 games for Maryland. She averaged 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in helping the Terrapins to their third straight Big Ten regular season and tournament titles.

Ohio State was selected to win the Big Ten by both the coaches and the media, with the Terrapins selected to finish second. Michigan was picked to finish third by the head coaches and tie Maryland for second by the media.

The Terps were selected to represent the USA in the World University games this summer in Taipei, Taiwan. The U.S. went 5-1 in the tournament, earning wins over Canada, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Poland and Uganda.

The Big Ten will be previewing the women’s basketball season all this week through its social media channels as part of Women’s Basketball Week. The Big Ten Network will air a women’s basketball preview special featuring all 14 head coaches and a player from each school on Monday, Nov. 6 at 3 and 10 p.m. ET.
