ASHEVILLE, NC – Maryland lost its second game of the Asheville Championship, as UAB beat the Terps, 66-63, at the Harrah's Cherokee Center on Sunday afternoon.
Jahmir Young had an all-around day with 14 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Donta Scott scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Deshawn Harris-Smith also scored 13 and had six boards.
Down by as many as 12 points in the second half with 7:39 minutes left in regulation, the Terps rallied to cut their deficit to four at 59-55 with 4:49 left in a Harris-Smith layup. Maryland got within two twice in the final minutes and Harris-Smith's three-pointer at the buzzer was blocked.
Maryland and UAB are both 1-2 on the season.
Eric Gaines led the Blazers with 20 points.

- The Terps used an 11-0 run in the first half to break open a back-and-forth start building out a 21-12 lead at the 8:06 mark. Caelum Swanton-Rodgerand Jordan Geronimo had dunks during the spurt.
