DANBURY, Conn. - Maryland freshman guard Melo Trimble was named the 2014-15 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Year.

Trimble, in just his first year in a Terrapins' jersey, led Maryland to a 28-7 record this season. The All-Big Ten First Team selection led Maryland in scoring, averaging 16.2 points per game.

Trimble was especially lethal from behind the three-point line and at the free-throw line, knocking down team-highs in both categories. His 207 makes at the charity stripe rank him third all-time in the Maryland single-season record books.

Senior Dez Wells was named to the third team after averaging 15.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Terps.

In addition to the ECAC and Big Ten honors, Trimble was named a Sporting News Second Team All-American and a USBWA Freshman All-American. Trimble was also named ECAC Rookie of the Week twice in his rookie campaign.
