Zahir Mathis from Imhotep Charter School in Philadelphia. Imhotep has been very “Terp friendly” in past years - sending us DJ Moore for football, who had his number retired there, plus both Donta Scott and Fatts Russell in basketball. We were in Mathis’ final 4 along with FSU, Michigan and UCLA. However, he was never able to visit UCLA due to the wildfires, and he also recently cancelled a visit to Ann Arbor. Leaving us and FSU, who has had a long standing relationship with him and is the leader presently but he vibed with Malik at the UA All-American game and Malik convinced him to come check out our program, so we have Malik to thank. Mathis is currently with Locks and our OLB coach James Thomas Jr. He is 1 of the 2 best players that did not sign in the early period and will be signing during the 2nd signing day period in February, which is on this Wednesday, February 5th. Was originally committed to Ohio State. Would be a great late signing if we can pull it off!
