This week's odds haven't been posted on my go-to site yet, but several of the big offshore books have this week's odds up and the Terps have opened as 17-point underdogs this week as they head to Iowa City to face the Hawkeyes.
Iowa has been the surprise team of the Big Ten this season, as they are 7-0 and ranked in the Top 10 coming off of a big win at Northwestern, heading into Saturday's game.
Maryland surprised some folks getting a huge win over the Hawkeyes last season in College Park. The Terps' rush ends were blowing by Iowa's tackles, including the Skins' No. 1 pick this year, Brandon Sherff. Maryland was also able to rush for over 200 yards while holding Iowa to just over 100 yards as a team.
That said, Jake Rudock had a big game but the Terps have already faced him this season in a Michigan uniform. CJ Bethard has done a solid job managing the offense for Kirk Ferentz and he can beat you deep, but he's not going to sling the ball all over the field.
Iowa RB Jordan Canzeri went down with a bad lower leg/foot injury and had to be carted off of the field on Saturday. That would be a HUGE blow as he had rushed for 100-plus hards in 4 of the last 5 coming into that Northwestern game. And that includes a huge 256-yard outing versus Illinois two weeks ago. Canzeri's status is going to be something to monitor very closely over the next couple of days.
But Iowa has lucked out in the scheduling department as they don't have to face any of the top teams from the east in OSU, MSU and Michigan.
