I agree that he's not ready for the NBA. I too am frustrated with his performance late in the season, especially knowing what he's capable of. But posters calling him soft or weak, hoping he leaves, and calling it "addition by subtraction" is inappropriate, uncalled for, and I believe wrong. He's a good Terp who has worked hard and represented the University well. Is he our MVP? No. But be careful what you hope for folks. And don't send him packin' before his senior year, after you've enjoyed the benefits he's brought the team, just because you feel we'll have enough talent without him. "Thanks for your efforts, your help, but we don't need you any more." Really?

Consider that his per-game average on this year's team ranked:
#1 rebounds#2 blocks#3 scoring (more than double #4, Nickens)#3 assists#3 stealsIMHO:
When you're not a 7 footer, and are #1 in rebounds and #2 in blocks on a very good D1 team, you're not soft or weakWithout Layman the Terps would have lost several more games while Dez was out, and he certainly helped win a lot of other gamesHe made relatively few costly mistakesHe has improved each year, and will again next yearHis biggest weakness was that his confidence came and went, and with it his aggressive play. But he made this a better team this year than it would have been without him, and that will be true next year too. Sure, I'd definitely love to see Lee come next year. But if he doesn't come because Layman is here, I'd say that's because Layman is pretty damn good.
