I went to my old stomping grounds this past Friday to take in the River Hill scrimmage and got a good look at Terps commit Beau Brade.
There is plenty to like about Brade's upside. He has a good frame for a safety but there is room for him to grow once he gets on campus. Brade fits the mold of an in-the-box safety. He does a great job coming down him in run support, is fearless, and very aggressive. We saw him take a running back off his feet on one play when he came down hill and filled the alley on a sweep. I expect to see that a few times during his college career.
In pass coverage, Brade showed good instincts and the ability to anticipate the pass but he isn't very rangy and shouldn't be asked to cover the deep middle of the field. He is at his best covering running backs and tight ends or receivers on short and intermediate routes.
I think Brade's current rating is fair but we'll see how this season goes for him.
