The Terps have offered 2017 WER1 five-star PG Trevon Duval.

I actually got a call from someone close to him last week before the live period started and we talked about Trevon for a bit. Although he goes to school at St. Benedict's Prep in NJ, Trevon is originally from Wilmington, Delaware. He actually played AAU with WER1 for a while before switching to the NJ Playaz last spring where I saw him this time last year in Hampton.

We talked last year in Hampton and to my surprise, Maryland was one of the first schools he mentioned back then. I had a post about him here on the boards back then as someone to definitely keep an eye on. He's long since blown up. He was an integral part of a Playaz team that made the title game at Peach Jam and I think is a better prospect than his old AAU teammate Isaiah Briscoe who's headed to Kentucky.

Fast forward to this year and Trevon made the switch back to WER1 about two or three weeks ago. Playing basically with a team full of rising juniors at the 17U level last weekend, Duval finished 4th in scoring (17.8 ppg), 5th in assists (3.2 apg) and 1st in steals (2.5 spg). His backcourt mate on the team is Neumann-Goretti PG Quade Green. To give an idea of just how dominant Trevon has been, I was told that in the team's final practice before heading out to NOLA, Trevon was beating Quade so bad in practice that Quade finally checked himself out so he could just watch the show that Trevon was putting on.

Trevon's father is now coaching with WER1 and from what I was told, he'd like to have Trevon at a school closer to home. That said, this decision will be Trevon's alone and they fully expect him to pick up offers from Kentucky, Duke and the like and those schools will be in consideration. But I was told that if Maryland got on Trevon early, they have a good shot to be in this one until the end.

As for a comparison to his game, the one I've heard a couple of times recently is Kyrie Irving.
