There were plenty of recruits at Saturday's scrimmage, some 15-20. Among the group were Travon Stott, who verbaled today, Darnell Savage, Keandre Jones, Rashad Wheeler and a new face in Jalen Elliott, a quarterback/athlete from the Richmond area. They all got to see the best offensive performance of the spring with fairly nice weather, although a bit windy.

Again, after last Saturday's dismal offensive output, anything they could do would have been improvement. Something must have clicked in the run game today as the Terps mustered four scores, two by Jaquille Veii. The offensive line played much more physical and the running backs hit the holes and grinded out a lot of tough yards between the tackles. The defense did have some highlights but were overshadowed. The wind didn't allow for a very good passing day but a few passes were completed and a couple for big chunks of yards.

TE Derrick Heyward started off the scoring frenzy with a 21-yard TD catch and run. Then, Veii added a 2-yard plunge and then a 6-yard, up-the-gut, score. Brandon Ross answered with his own 12-yard jaunt to the end zone. The final TD on the ground was Kenneth Goins' 4-yards in a cloud of dust.

The two other scores came from the air. DeAndre Lane hauled in a 12-yarder and Levern Jacobs scored from 24-yards away.

Aided by the wind, the kicking game looked solid as Brad Craddock nailed a 45-yarder that would have been good from 50-plus and Adam Greene answered with his own impressive make from 45. Greene also added a 26-yarder near the end of the scrimmage.

On defense, Antwaine Carter picked off one of Perry Hills passes and Sean Davis had an acrobatic interception of Shane Cockerille.

The 'Hit of the Day' came from Malik Jones crushing Jaquille Veii in the backfield. Jermaine Carter and Tyler Burke also had a spectacular hit spinning Veii into the air as he tried to leap over the pile for a score. Cavon Walker had a quarterback sack, as well

Other notable offensive plays, Will Ulmer caught a 12-yarder. Lane pulled down a passes from for 37 and 42-yards and Albert Reid showed his inside running skills with a 16-yard scamper.

The quarterbacks did play better but still lacked consistency.

The Terps practice on Monday and Wednesday next week and play the spring game on Saturday at one o'clock which is open to the public.
