I know the NCAAs are just starting but the coaching carousel has already started heating up in the college baseball world and I'm hearing Vaughn is a top candidate for multiple open P5 jobs.

He's obviously done an incredible job here at Maryland, taking the Terps to three straight NCAA regionals, winning back-to--back B1G regular season titles and winning the Terps' first-ever B1G tourney. Then you throw in the back-to-back B1G COY honors and this probably doesn't come as much of a surprise.

I know he really likes living in Annapolis and he is also pretty well compensated, making almost 500K.

With all of that said, he's from Texas and played at Kansas State.

I'm hearing he's the top candidate at Missouri and he has a connection there which could help them. The SEC is obviously the top baseball conference in the country and the top coaches in that league almost all make well north of a million bucks a year. With that said, Mizzou's previous head coach was the lowest paid in the SEC, basically making what Vaughn makes now.

I'm also hearing he is a top target for UCF, who's also looking for a new head coach. While the previous coach made just 250K and was leading at team in the AAC, they are headed to the Big 12 next year and the new coach will likely make significantly more, especially if it is a big name.

Obviously Maryland lost two pretty good coaches before Vaugh (Szefc, Bakich) to higher-profile, higher-paying jobs. Luckily this time around, the pay is much more in line with the other schools targeting him and he's had much success in College Park. The question becomes, are other schools going to step it up with their financial packages and is Maryland able to rework his deal again if necessary.
