Here's a general breakdown of yesterday's camp from the national team that was on hand. The last blurb from Friedman is pretty spot on and exactly what Pat and I experienced, as well, talking to some of the top local kids. Here's what Adam wrote:

Maryland was conspicuously absent from the conversations when prospects talked recruiting. When asked, some players said that they love the coaching staff and really like the players there but they want to see results and progress on and off the field. A few prospects even said that if Maryland makes a bowl game this year the Terps would be very serious contenders for them. As new head coach Mike Locksley gets the Terps back on the right track expect more and more of the talented local prospects to more seriously consider Maryland.

This is the type of feedback we've been receiving for a while now. Guys literally gush about Maryland, how they love Locks, love the new facilities, have great relationships with the assistant coaches and current/future players, but then when it comes time to name their top group, Maryland is somehow inconspicuously absent. Perfect example of this yesterday was Aaryn Parks. This kid talks to us about Maryland like they are one of his top schools. Yet when he went on camera with Adam, he didn't even mention the Terps. If Maryland can get to a bowl game and pull a big upset somewhere along the way, I think guys like Parks and Achumba, even if committed to Penn St., could be major candidates to flip to Maryland around signing day. I know this isn't what some want to hear, but this is simply the reality of the situation right now.

And make no mistake, if this team wins at least 6 games and makes a bowl, Locksley WILL be flipping some kids come Dec. and Feb. That you can be certain of. But right now, it is all about winning games this fall. That happens, everything else is going to quickly fall into place.
