I know some of you are aware of this by now, but for those that aren't, September 1st tends to be a fairly big day in recruiting.
For senior prospects - Class of 2016 - it's the first day of the cycle that coaches are now allowed to call players. They're now allowed to call 2016 prospects once a week throughout the fall.
For junior prospects - Class of 2017 - it's the first day that the coaching staff is allowed to initiate contact via social media and email. Up until now, the players had to initiate all conversations (social media, email, phone) that take place off campus.
Throughout the day, you're probably going to hear about the coaching staff contacting prospects at 12:01 tonight. From speaking with contacts earlier today, I know that the staff was planning to send direct messages at midnight to every Class of 2017 prospect that they've already offered, plus a handful of others that are on the cusp of picking up an offer.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if a few members of the staff also called some senior prospects at midnight, but I'm not 100 percent sure about that, especially now that school is back in session for most of the players in the region.
