I thought this was a very interesting read on the influence of shoes companies and AAU/recruiting.
I found a few of the quotes both interesting and funny. Coaches from Nike schools saying they lost a kid because of ....Nike! Guys bitching about Under Armour when Nike and adidas have been known to do the stuff they think UA is doing for years. And the quote about Diamond was very interesting too, seems some think Stone to MD is going to open the flood gates for the Terps.
At the end of the day, in most cases, shoe companies have zero influence at all. And even when they might, it's not the schools doing any of the influencing. But indirectly, Under Armour becoming a more high-profile brand in hoops is certainly a plus for Maryland.
I'll add, the first quote made me laugh, even with the stuff redacted I know who was bitching about that. LOL
