Just got the release on the 12-man EYBL team headed to the Bahamas to play the Bahamian National Select Team. The one real Terps target on there is Westtown's Mohamed Bamba. Like I said the other day, Nike is starting to see Under Armour as a real threat now in hoops. This trip was basically thrown together to keep players from playing in the Under Armour Elite 24. Throw in the fact that UA just struck a deal w/ the NBA and they probably view them as even more of a threat. Release and roster below.

BEAVERTON, Oregon – As the summer comes to a close, the top high school players will travel to Nassau, Bahamas, August 19-23, 2015 for elite training, mentorship and competition. Athletes selected for the program are standouts from the 2015 Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, which included sessions in Hampton, VA, Lexington, KY, Houston, TX, Minneapolis, MN and the finals at Peach Jam in North Augusta, SC. The complete EYBL Select Team roster can be found below.

The EYBL Select Team will take the court at the Kenal G. L. Isaacs National Gymnasium in Nassau on August 20th and 21st for two days of intense training among the best of their peers. Individual skills will be the focus of the practices led by coach Miles Simon, collegiate national champion and current ESPN analyst. With just 12 players in rotation for drills, athletes will be expected to keep with the summer’s Nike EYBL theme of #ShowAndProve

Just as importantly, players will be provided essential tools to develop critical off-court skills to their future success. These sessions will focus on sports psychology, nutrition, life skills, media training and increasing players’ social media savvy and personal brand development.

“This trip is about taking things to the next level – elevating training regimens and creating a competitive atmosphere among the top players in our program” said Carlton DeBose, Director of Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball. “This will be a great opportunity for players to showcase their individual work ethic, competitiveness and character as we ask them to train alongside the stars of the future.”

The rigorous training period will culminate with an exhibition game versus the Bahamian National Select Team onAugust 22nd at 5 p.m. local time at the Isaacs National Gymnasium. The event will be open to the public, as well as NBA scouts, and will be a unique opportunity for the EYBL Select Team to showcase their talents while engaging with the local community.
